Ever wonder what Sesame Street's The Count does when he's alone?
Watch this to find out:

*ambiguously* safe for work. proceed at your own risk, I guess.

In other news, I'm doing well. I like my job, my roommates, and my cat. My room is on its way to being clean. I convinced a neighbor to begin digging up the blackberries that are invading my yard, which, I guess, will suffice as a valentine for me this year. My plucky optimism that someone, somewhere will surprise me with the news that they're my secret Valentine is running low this year, but that's alright.

Also, I read two wonderful books lately:

Janet Malcolm, who writes convincingly about other people as a way to describe her own story (she was famously sued for libel; after a ten-year court battle, the man suing her won the case, but was awarded absolutely nothing in damages). In Two Lives, she writes about Gertrude, Alice, Judaism, and the Nazis, and presents a vivid picture of both women. If you like Joan Didion but wish she had more sharper teeth, then Janet Malcolm is the journalist for you.

Call Me By Your Name is the book that I would recommend to, well, anyone. Andre Aciman's novel describes a 17 year old Italian boy's love affair with an American man who comes to stay with his family, and the deeply felt prose moved me to tears over and over. I haven't read such a lovely story in awhile, and I feel sure that it will resonate through me for some time to come (Lance, you in particular need to read it) (but I think everyone ought to check it out).

Also - amber and Drew helped me set up #rathole on efnet - it's the hot new place for rats! See you there!

Anyone want to go see Lars and the Real Girl wit' me tomorrow (Laurelhurst, sevenish)?

Meet me there? I forgot to bring deodorant, so I might smell bad.

There are various people around town you can pay $20 to be your Valentine for the day... and as an added bonus the deal comes with a happy ending! :)

don't think we're headed to see nicole g. on wednesday, but lisa will be there! (i know, i'm probably the flakiest friend you've ever had and i suck.) reason being we're having dinner with a friend who's having shoulder surgery the next day, who also needs a big meal before 10 p.m. when he has to stop eating.

be my (friend) valentine? eh?

Aw, no. You have good reasons to skip the reading. I'm excited to see the zinesters (I've been reading Clutch for a coupla yrs) and to bump into Lisa and see her smiling face.

I'd love to be your Valentine. Thanks :)

My ears are still ringing a little bit. I think I damaged them. The dancer-guy from the dance set we saw who also jumped on stage with Glass Candt was at the gym the other day, and I went to say "hey you were fun to watch the other day!" but he turned his head away from me as if to say, I am too pretty for the likes of you.' Oh well.

was it the guy with the "italians do it better" shirt? he also works at thai noon on alberta and reminds me of the guy under the bunny suit in donnie darko.

did you actually get to say anything or did he totally ignore you?

He totally turned his head the other direction when I looked at him for a full half-second. Yea, he was the Italians Do It Better guy (the other dancer looked scene-snobby from the get-go).

I never saw Donnie Darko. All I know is the "Mad, Mad World" cover from that movie. I can remember walking through Fred Meyer's on Hawthorne while a person I used to know explained the movie to me, but that's neither here nor there. :D

Hilarious. I woke up to this video this morning, and though waking up for me is no laughing matter, I actually started to laugh a bit.

I like that the original SS clip used music & tune that might be an authentic Romanian/Hungarian folk dance-song. I think that was nifty.

Another nice icon-pic. :)

#rathole has all my favorite people and doesn't have the people I dislike.. YAYAY!
